Togo, West Africa - Clothing Donations & Supplies

June 30th 2013, The Cultural Arts Center of St. Louis, LLC has provided additional clothing and supplies to senior citizens living in abject poverty in Lomé, Togo (West Africa). Below is our bilingual company representative distributing some of the t-shirts while another shipment of clothing and supplies is scheduled for early July.

Approximately one half of the population lives below the international poverty line of US $1.25 a day. During the 1990's, Togo suffered through a socio-political crisis, an economic regression and a decrease in public and international aid. 

The country’s challenge now is to create the conditions for economic growth – and the Government of Togo believes that the best way to achieve lasting growth is through increased production and productivity in the agriculture sector.
